Tuscia, northern Lazio
Tuscia is the quiet corner of Lazio between Rome and Umbria: tufa-stone villages, Renaissance gardens, thermal springs and a lake with its own islands. It rewards the traveller who stays put and lets the days fill themselves.
The Palermo hinterland
Inland Sicily is where the island keeps its biggest landscapes. From a hillside near Ciminna the view runs over mountains and villages to the sea, and everything the island is known for is a drive away: Palermo’s markets, the mosaics of Monreale, the castle at Caccamo and the beaches of the north coast.
Neapoli and Exarchia
Neapoli and Exarchia sit just north of Kolonaki and west of Lycabettus Hill. One is quiet, neoclassical and residential; the other is the city’s bookish, argumentative, street-art-covered quarter. Between them is the Athens that Athenians live in.
Many guests pair the countryside with the city, or the island with the capital. The connections are simpler than they look, and we can help you line the dates up.
Fly Rome to Palermo in a little over an hour, or take the slow way: the train down the coast and the ferry across the strait. Collect a car at Palermo for the villa.
Rome to Athens is a direct flight of around two hours. Return the hire car at Fiumicino in the morning; coffee on the balcony in Neapoli by the afternoon.
Flights from Palermo or Catania reach Athens in an afternoon, usually with a change in Rome; seasonal direct routes sometimes run in summer. Ask us when you book and we will help you plan it.
